X11 hasn't been working under my main account on my MacBook for about a year now, but it worked under another user name for some reason so I was ignoring the problem. It recently became more of a problem to switch account names, so I tried to fix it yesterday and broke something. I thought it was a problem with the display variable, but changing it didn't help. Someone suggested downloading Xquartz, but that stopped X11 from working entirely. I restored it to an earlier version but somehow screwed up the libraries, so now not only can I not use X11 at all, I can't use anything that calls it - I can't open IDL, VPN, and cut and paste stopped working.
Here's a recent error message:
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11/lib/bliXp.6.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/itt/idl704/bin/bin.darwin.x86_64/libidl.7.0.dylib
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/usr/X11/lib/libXp.6.dylib: can't map
IDL would start up just fine before I started trying to fix X11. Any ideas about what I can do to fix this? I'm a thousand miles away from my install disks and that's not changing anytime soon, and last time I did an install I lost Parallels (also a thousand miles away, and I can't work without it). But I could get to an Apple store (not covered under warranty though).
