Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close.

My system was working fine until today.  Now after I sync my BB Pearl with Outlook i get this message and my Desktop Mgr shuts down.  I am running Desktop v4.2.2.14.   The syncing operation seems to be workign just fine but then the Desktop Mgr shutsdown about 15 seconds after the sync is complete.  
I am running Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP Version 5.0.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software with no improvement.  Any other ideas? 
Have spent 6 months being bounced from company help desk to Blackberry help within my company to Verizon etc.  First time I found this forum.  Good to know I'm not the only person having major issues.  My sync worked perfectly until I did a recommended software upgrade.  Now I cannot sync my calendar to my Lotus Notes calendar.  Contacts sync works fine but the calendar was my primary reason for moving to a smartphone.  Will try backing down to the old ServicePak.  Thanks.
